Iceland may in the best shape of many developed nations for the coming cataclysmic oil sparse era...
All that geo-thermal power. Being made into Hydrogen...
The most well read people in the world. Hot scandanavian chicks. Lots of seafood. Hotsprings... Summer nights...Scandanavian values.
On the downside... those incredibly long dark winters... depression. Volcanically unstable.
I wonder what it would be like to live in a small community like that...?

God that is SUCH a silly stereotype that a surprising amount of men have about Scandinavian women. Icelandic women are not some super race of tall blondes, like the all other countries there are good looking people and not so good looking people.

Thu, March 29, 2007 - 11:54 AMSwedes are also very serious about reducing their dependence on imported oil. The target date on their initiative is 2020. Sweden has a reasonably small population (9 Million), and is approximately the size of California. And they have a lot of trees. In a worst case scenario, some of the wood could be fermented into butanol fuel. One advantage over Iceland: No active volcanoes.
